About the Company

For over 80 years, Airstream has been king of the RV and motorhome market, with their iconic models being easily recognizable with their striking style and classic lines echoing the great American road trip that started with the building of the interstate highway system in the middle of the 20th century.

The founder, Wally Byam, built the company from scratch, from humble beginnings putting a tent on a Model T chassis, to creating the first teardrop trailer. The first factory opened in 1931 among high demand for travel trailers. Weathering the Great Depression and World War II wasn’t easy for the company, and in fact, the company temporarily shut its doors during the war. However, the post-war boom led to major growth for the company, and through the decades, the company has continued to improve and refine its designs and built a loyal customer base that continues into the new millennium.

Motorhomes

Today, Airstream® motorhomes, also known as touring coaches, are built on a Mercedes-Benz® chassis, giving them the luxury and reliability of that German car brand on top of Airstream’s own reputation for style and comfort. The company offers several different model lines to choose from.

The Interstate is an extended luxury coach capable of seating nine passengers for comfort and fun on long road trips. This model is fully equipped with a galley kitchen including a full refrigerator and freezer, and you can be assured that all of your gear will fit comfortably thanks to the model’s voluminous storage options. The model also includes a workspace desk so you can take care of any work you need to do on the road. If you’re in the market for a motorhome that you can use to take the whole squad out into the great outdoors, the Interstate is a great choice for you.

The Atlas™ is a high-end model that features top quality amenities. With its wide body for extra room, including a slide-out side panel that includes a Murphy bed, this model oozes luxury and comfort on the road. The interior space is easily reconfigurable to allow for more storage space, or for more space to relax. The Atlas includes a high-end shower with teak lining, a tankless water heater, and options for supplemental power including solar panels. If you’re looking for flexible luxury and modular space options in a comfortable frame, the Atlas is worth considering.

Just like Airstream’s travel trailer models, the company’s motorhomes and touring coaches reflect the company’s history of building RVs and trailers that continue to fuel the American impulse for road trips. The company’s history of reliability, style, comfort, and luxury continues to impress a wide base of road trippers and family travelers, who continue to buy the company’s products with enthusiasm. We’re confident that, once you step foot in an Airstream® motorhome, you won’t want to leave anytime soon. You might even find that your new motorhome is more comfortable than your own house!
